Pop Ups are one-day, city-based pilgrimages designed by CJ and CCDA (make a link https://ccda.org/),  to form us as faithful, justice-oriented neighbors.

Justice can often feel abstract or distant. This experience helps people discover that justice begins where we live.

This intentionally intergenerational experience centers the formation of youth and young adults while engaging the entire community to support along the journey.

What Happens During the Pilgrimage

Participants spend the day being hosted by local leaders who share how their faith and justice intersect locally. This is demonstrated by:

  • A local church serving its neighborhood
  • A community nonprofit addressing real needs
  • A group of artists telling the story of the city

Through guided reflection, shared dialogue, prayer, and  practical action planning, we help one another imagine next steps in our schools, churches, and neighborhoods.

What Participants Learn

Participants leave with a deeper connection to their city and concrete ways to practice justice locally. As a result, we will:

  • Develop a biblical imagination for justice
  • Connect faith to local systems and stories
  • Identify sustainable next steps for faithful action

This program is made possible through a Faith and Service Grant from the TENx10 Collaboration at Fuller Theological Seminary, Pasadena, California, with funds provided by Lilly Endowment Inc.
